VALDSLAND (DM) – The House of Delegates within Valdsland narrowly rejected federation with the new Paravian Federal Empire today, with the House split 12 votes to 12.
The special session was called after Lord Executor Horatio Eden promised that the question of federation would be put to Parliament.
It was determined that the lack of a formal constitution, as well as the question of what the separate federal and state competencies would be were evidence that a Valdslandic entry into the federation would be too hasty to guarantee Valdslandic interests would be sufficiently represented. Lord Executor Eden also expressed concern privately that he was less than willing to let Valdsland’s seat in the Grand Unified Micronational go.
It was decided after the conversation that Valdsland would reconsider the question of federation once the constitution of the new federal empire had been formalised.
This comes as a former treaty of mutual recognition between Nedland and Valdsland was annulled as a result of the creation of the federation. Valdslandic-Paravian relations reportedly remain unaffected by the change in government format.
